Springboard is already on your iPhone. Its where you see all your icons.

Winterboard is an app that gives you the ability the theme your Springboard

Springboard is just the home screens where the apps are. Winterboard is a jailbreak app which allows you to customize your Springboard. For Winterboard you need a jailbroken iPhone with cydia, and 2.x :D

That, and download themes through cydia, then open up winterboard and activate the theme you downloaded...

As far as customizing themes you download goes, you'll have to use SSH for that.

:apple:Custom themes slow down the springboard and the iphone overall. Also it will void your warrenty not worth it if you ask me.:apple:

It will not void your warranty.
If you have a problem with your iPhone, just do a restore and everything will be gone.

Apple will never know you jailbroke your iPhone unless you take it in to the Genius Bar all custom-themed and such. ;)

Quit putting out bogus and false information. If you restore your phone before taking it in.....your warranty will not be void.

As for slowing down, that is not entirely true either. If you let winterboard do all of the work, then yes there is a slow down. I use winterboard only to wallpaper my springboard. I use diskaid to access the root directory to change everything else. If you go here (http://www.hackthatphone.com/20/graphics_locations.html), there is a list of all the graphics locations. Physically change them instead of letting winterboard do it and you will notice no slow down. I change all of my icons "permanently" and therefore there is no slow down. You can change them back to default by restoring the phone. This prevents winterboard from "painting over" the stock icons.

You need to be more careful before you go spouting out bad info. Someone had the correct info and will usually flame you. If you don't want to JB, then don't but don't put out incorrect info to scare other people. :p

Umm... Customizing your iPhone doesn't void the warrenty, jailbreaking does. And we are in the hacks forum after all.
Also, a theme won't lag you up, not with 2.2 and the latest wimterboard. You may lag if it's OTT though, but only slightly. :)

You either work for apple or are jealous about all the benefits there are to the people who can work out the jailbreaking process. As it's not a difficult process I'm thinking the former.
