Too many threads, too many "this version", "that version", etc, etc

I want to jailbreak my iPhone. I have QuickPwn downloaded. I'm using Windows XP.

iPhone has 2.2. Modem Firmware 2.28.00.

I have read several threads and quickpwn guide and there's just too many conflicting issues. I read one thread about the modem firmware that if you have a certain version, you have to use Apple Mac to change the firmware. Well, I don't have that computer.

Also, the stickies need to be cleaned up. Too confusing.

The only reason you would worry is if you plan on having a software unlock in the near future. It sounds like you already have 2.2 installed though, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Just run quickpwn and follow the prompts. Easy.

Edit: I guess I should have been a little clearer.... The only reason you would need to use a Mac is if you don't want to update the baseband in preparation for the software unlock coming out after new year's. If you already have 2.2 installed you're too late anyway, and will just have to stick with you're approved carrier until the dev team can unlock the new baseband.

If you aren't worried about having the software unlock soon, then just run quickpwn like I said before and jailbreak your phone.

Or even easier install this custom 2.2 firmware http://hacksdaily.blogspot.com/2008/11/unlock-iphone-22-firmware.html (control click on restore button and select the .ipsw file) don't even need to put your iphone in dfu mode.

I was glad to see all of my apps and song still on the phone. I already had a backup, but was glad that I didn't have to restore it.
