One major difference that i have noticed in switching from PC to a Mac was that there is no way to edit game files (as far as i can tell) Ex. The ability to see screenshots taken in-game, and general modifications in game. Is there any way to do this?

Right-click on any app or game, then select show package contents.

Wow includes a key command to take screen shots. They are stored in the application folder. That is not that uncommon although (depending on the game) screenshots are sometimes stored in one of the MacOS Library folders like Application Support. If the game does not include a built in ability to take screens you might have to purchase a program like SnapProX.

For the original poster's benefit: If the game consists of just a single icon, there is a good possibility it is a "package". Contents are hidden until you right-click it. WoW comes as a game folder.

Guess i should have given more details. The game is Battlefield 2142 and it just shows an image. So i just have to right click and select show package contents and that would give me a similar window to that of which im used to on windows? i.e. where it would show maps, etc.?

Yes. There are folders for everything, including maps.
