I'm trying to sync my apple tv to my macbook pro. However it's using our wireless internet to sync. It's taking forever to sync 1 movie (over 30 minutes) Is there another way to sync much faster as I have 18 movies I need to sync in 2 hours.

can I use the ethernet port on the apple tv and my macbook pro to sync? Is there a hack to do this?

Yes, this is possible.
When I was having troubles getting Apple TV to show up in my devices list, i phoned Care and they said "for the time being, connect the Apple TV to your Mac via an ethernet cable, until you find the issue with your router.
So this is possible, and even Apple knows it, so it's not a sort of hack. I'm sure you pretty much connect them both together, restart iTunes (maybe restart your Mac) - but I think that's it...
Let me know how it goes...

not a hack at all. It works off a wired or wireless network. I had mine connected with Cat 6 the entire time i've owned it

I think the op is asking if they can be connected directly not via a normal network. I don't think that is posssible is it?

Came across this post after recently buying a new iMac and, even after using Migration Assistant, was required to delete everything from my Apple TV and sync to new computer and so was looking for a faster way to do this than over the wireless network.
I can confirm that you can directly link your Apple TV to your Mac via Ethernet cable, mine is currently syncing in this way.
