Hey, so I just purchased a wii and was just wondering what the community thought were the best virtual console games to buy...I'm already considering purchasing the following:

- Zombies ate my neighbors
- Toe Jam and Earl
- Mario Kart 64
- Goldeneye (if they have it)

What do you guys think?

I bought many of the games I loved when I was younger.

Here's a few I bought that are some of my favorites; (from memory - to lazy to get up)

Zelda NES 1-2
Zelda SNES
Street Fighter 2 Championship
Street Fighter 2 World Edition.
R-Type
Ghouls 'n Ghosts (Genesis)
... and more that I'll need to check. :)

I plan on buying Phantasy Star 2 and 4, Secret of Mana, and Forgotten Worlds.

I still have my Golden Eye 64 game and my N64. Last I read, there's some kind of dispute about putting it on the Wii or any other current console, since the rights for the game are all over the place.

I recall that many here bought MK64 and enjoyed it.

Definitely buy some Classic Controllers and it's also worth buying some arcade sticks.

Any of the old main Nintendo IP's
Zelda, Mario, Metroid.

R-Type 1 and 3
Donkey Kong Country (it's not great, but its the first time I've played it)
Lylat Wars
Sonic 1-3 (barring the Master System ones, urgh!)
Streets of Rage 2

And for Wiiware-
World of Goo
Lost Winds
(and if you're addicted to Pokemon like me -) Pokemon Ranch. One of the few ways to get a proper Mew.
Tetris Party (or whatever its called)
Dr Mario

That link is funny! :) I take is someone used it on you? :D

I'm still waiting for Buck Rogers: Count Down to Doomsday and Starflight. I hope these show up soon. I think I had to wait about 6 months for Ghouls 'n Ghost Genesis to show up under VC.

Haha I've been lucky enough to avoid being hit with it. I saw it on digg a while ago and thought this was the perfect situation to break it out. :D

Eww eww eww! Clearly written by someone who didn't play Turrican 1 or 2 :D they abolished the non-linear gameplay, levels had shrunk drastically and some didn't scroll vertically! The awesome flamethrower weapon was replaced by... ... a grappling hook. The music was still ace though.
Btw. Mega Turrican was ported back to the Amiga under Turrican 3.
Gah! the reviewer goes on about mid-level boss battles, Turrican 1 had them! Almost every level had one and that was a 1989 game!
"Turrican fans will be pleased to know the game doesn’t make any really sweeping changes to the format that got so much acclaim on the C64 and the Amiga", except it's now an entirely different platform genre!

Sorry sorry. 1 and 2 are my fave games so I'm touchy about them k :o

Haha very funny! I did a google search for it to no avail but I was in a state of denial (I love my zombies! :D) and wanted to confirm it w/ the mac rumors community just to make sure...man, I see it's not even on the list of future releases...guess I'll have to look on eBay for an SNES lol

World of Goo - wiiware

Totally awesome - the creator/s must have a very strange mind to have come up with all the stuff in it - been playing it for hours - just excellent.:D

Also recommend brain academy to keep those brain cells awake - if thats your thing of course.
