This is the second touch to do this to me. I turn my touch off, and I charge it overnight. Then the next morning the screen is white and then i functions normally. Is the some secret feature to prevent the battery form over loading? Help!!

You can't "overload" a battery. Try a restore to see if that fixes it going white when it's done charging.

We have three touches and I had never heard of this happening. I did a google search and just about every discussion recommends trying a reset and if that fails do a restore.
I also noticed that many of the users had a jailbroken unit.

Your not *charging* over night.
When you plug in your iPod your connecting a power source to the iPod, the clever electronics inside the iPod then charge the battery until full, after that the power from your USB port will only be used to run the iPod, not the charger.
The white screen issue could be a random oddity, nothing directly to do with charging :)

this has never happened to me and I have charged my ipod overnight for like a year now. But one thing I don't do is turn off the ipod. Try keeping it on one night and let me know what happens.

This may not help but...When I first got my iPod, I had to charge it every single day three days in a row. But I charged it once overnight, which I believe IS the right thing to do, I havnt charged it again for days. I think it depends on how long you charge it overnight, I personally charged it for about 12 hours.

I do charge both of my ipods overnight. Why do you want to charge it during the day? And I don't think its possible to "overload" the battery.
Goodluck:)

wardev, have you checked out the thread in this forum about the type of case you're using? I switched to a Griffin flip case with magnets in it just about the time this started happening. I've had three iPods swapped out and the same thing keeps happening and I'm beginning to believe that there is some truth to this theory. What kind of case are you using?

So, you can no longer overcharge an iPod battery? That's good to know.
Back in the day, I had a 4G iPod (classic), and I accidentally left it on the charger for 3 days. The thing never had a battery life longer then 20 minutes after that.

I just leave my Touch in the dock connected to MacBook until I need it.

Nope I'm running 2.2 as it came. But I do charge it through an old griffin chargeer I originally used with my nano and use an old USB cord where by the something number pin iPod connector half of the plastic fell off and I have it taped together. My dad charged his iPhone 3g with it and had no problems...................

Hmm, this happened to me the first day I had it, and then it has never happened since (I don't charge mine overnight simply because I think that I will get another white screen...)
Well, I don't charge it using the computer, I use an AC charger (That is what I was using when it happened)
If it happens again, I'm going to call apple and see what's up.
