Illustrator: Fills?

When you draw a path with the pencil or paint tool why does it always become empty fill (only path) after you release and you have to go select a color to either fill the line or the path.

Anybody know the settings to disable this so you can constantly draw with the selected color and it would keep the fills?

Use the Pen tool (with Bezier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bezier_curves) curves).

I think it makes your paths/selection better because you can see what your drawing

just make sure that the fill is turned on before you go ahead drawing with the pen tool.... im pretty sure that might solve it... as for a permanent setting i dont believe it is possible. i could be wrong though...
