As this could very well be the last Macworld event, MacRumors.com is co-hosting a "Macworld Finale Bash" with iPhoneAlley (http://www.iphonealley.com/announcements/join-macrumors-amp-iphone-alley-for-the-macworld-finale-bash) on the evening of the keynote speech -- Tuesday, January 6th, 2009.

The party/meetup will be held at Jillian's (http://sanfrancisco.jilliansbilliards.com/) restaurant (map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Jillian's+Billiard+Club,+San+Francisco,+CA&sll=37.785131,-122.401986&sspn=0.007953,0.015321&ie=UTF8&ll=37.790591,-122.402973&spn=0.030251,0.061283&z=14&iwloc=A)) across from Moscone West. Open to all ages, there will be free food and giveaways, but you're responsible for your own alcohol. It will run from 6:00pm to 9:30pm. So, join us for some in-person post-keynote commentary (and iPhone Nano complaining).

The event is kindly sponsored by Delicious-Monster (http://www.delicious-monster.com/), the Mac developers behind the critically acclaimed Delicious Library (http://www.delicious-monster.com/) cataloging software. Try it out (http://www.delicious-monster.com/) and visit their Macworld booth (#2602).

Facebook users can RSVP on the Facebook event page (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=109243960709&ref=mf), though this is not required.

no, you can just show up. But if you have a facebook account to RSVP, it's nice to get a rough count.

As the person responsible for a huge amount of publicity for your site Arn (iPhone girl...), do I get a fully expensed trip to San Francisco ? ;)

Only joking - wish I could be there as this sounds great.

What a provocative title!

So, if this is NOT the last MWE, will next year's be the "2nd Annual MacWorld Finale Bash?" and become a running gag.

It's like the Annual Going-Out-of-Business Sale!

Nice... we do front-page publicized meetup the year I'm NOT going. Last year's less publicized meetup (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/01/10/macrumors-reader-meetup-january-15th-6pm-9pm/) was fun though (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/01/16/macrumors-mwsf-2008-reader-meetup-photos/), so I encourage folks to attend. Jillians is also a good place with plenty of room, so hopefully it will accommodate everyone who wants to come.

Great idea, I'm sure everyone will have lots of fun! I won't be in SF myself but my brother will be attending MWSF on behalf of the company he works for (Faronics) so I'll tell him he should stop by and have a couple drinks for me and say "hi" to everyone!

All the MR bigwigs in attendance in one place? Free food?

A splendid time for a deserved coup by the British contingent of staff, renaming the place to MacRumours, putting a picture of the Queen in the lavvy and compulsory Jaffa Cakes for all.

The good thing about teh Jaffa is they come in useful as a weapon in case there is an attempt to regain control

Check out the reach on this bad boy

Would be nice to go but there is the small task of navigating the approximate 5346 miles (door to door) between my house and the venue. :(

Um, complaining that...

A.) it doesn't exist yet?
B.) it does exist but the specs are shoddy?
or...
C.) it was a crap rumor to begin with and had no chance of existing for countless obvious reasons?

Despite Apple's well-publicized pulling out (http://www.macworld.com/article/137587/2008/12/macworldexpo.html?t=110), the Macworld people have said they intend to continue (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10125916-37.html) the trade show into the future (or at least into 2010).

Maybe, but we all know what happened to New York/Boston (http://www.macrumors.com/2005/09/16/macworld-expo-boston-canceled/). From the IDG spokesman at the time:

"We did it for two years in Boston without Apple," said spokesman Mike Sponseller. However, he said, in talking with exhibitors and others, it became clear that there was not enough demand for future shows. Sponseller said the final decision to cancel the event was made Friday.

...compulsory Jaffa Cakes for all.I'd appreciate it if you didn't go offering me around like some cheap hooker. :p

Anyway, everyone knows that the correct chocolate-covered snackage for such a glittering occasion is ferrero rocher, of course arranged into a little pyramid.

Miss Velvet, with these rocher you are really spoiling us!

A huge thanks to MacRumors and iPhone Alley for hosting the "Macworld Finale Bash at Jillian's!" What a blast for those of us in attendance, and lucky enough to be close to the food table. Pizza, Hamburgers (almost better than Whitecastle's) and Calamari hit the spot. Though we invested in a Margarita Pizza amongst our group of (6) persons, there was a nice assortment of fixins' provided by our hosts. Met some people from Australia and Wales, so just givin' a shout out to those newfound MR members. The best prizes for raffle items (which I won and our new friends at our table) included an "XTAND" (from JustMobile), a nice Feather 3G iPhone Case by incipio, iPod nano Case by incipio, iPod nano protective wear by incipio, and a beautiful congratulations card from "incipio Team" at www.myincipio.com (a nice package deal; man, those guys are awesome!), and a nice Pogo stylus (thrown at our table and my significant other took one for the team by diving for the prize). A BART ride home, and dreams about ARN and iPhone Alley doing this again next year?
