Help- installing Windows from an USB when the disk drive doesn't work.

I have a new MacBook, but it came with a non-working drive. Put a CD in there, and it'll take a few days to get it out without unscrewing the device itself. Lately, I've needed Windows XP SP2. I have the CD plus the serial codes, all legal, and I've put all the files on a flash drive.

Since I can't put the Windows CD into my MacBook, how can I install Windows using a USB drive to install it?

So basically- How do I install Windows without any access to CD's?

hm,

well you can always try and usb optical drive.
but pretty much from a usb your out of luck.

Bring it to an Apple store or send it back and get the drive fixed.

Put it on a virtual machine. Virtual box is free. Then when your drive is fixed you can install it in bootcamp.

For the love of god !!!

Just take it/send it back to Apple for repair/replacement.....its a brand new computer the DVD drive should work !!!!

Yeah, next time I go to the Apple Store I'll get it repaired. They say they can do it in-store.

Its really difficult to install windows xp from a memory stick, ive done it myself a few times, and you need to actually do the process of copying the files from the cd onto the memory stick actually on the computer your going to install windows on, because the windows files need to be changed to make sure the memory stick will boot, its much easier for you to get a new superdrive fitted in the apple store, if not slightly expensive :):apple:

Other than getting your drive fixed, you might be able to create a disk image and copy all the window's file to your hd and run it off the disk image. Never tried it but should work in theory.
