Hotmail > Mail

Does anyone know how to use hotmail with Mail? and is it possible? I would like to use Mail and I don't have a .Mac account so it serves no purpose to me at the moment and I would like to start using it. I think it looks pretty nice, and hopefully it is better than hotmail :D

go to macupdate.com and download the "httpmail" program. follow the instructions and you'll have hotmail coming into your Mail program. I use it everyday and no problems

Ya, most of the time this is true, but sometimes mail will refuse to quit, because it's "contacting Hotmail server." I have to force quit before i can shut down. Also, you might need this address to get your mail, i did. Put it into the incoming server list after u install httpmail in mail prefs. Set up the outgoing as a diff account by putting in a diff server and telling it to have diff prefs for sending.

also, you can use mail for POP3 and IMAP accounts, too, not just .mac accounts. Check out mail prefs.

You should also know there are many other alternatives for free email. Mail will allow you to receive mail from just about any account you have set up.

I tried to add that Hotmail adress in MAIL after downloading and instaling Plugin Jaguar 1.39, for some reason it is not working, Its giving me the message below, anybody has any idea what else can I do to check my Hotmail from my MAIL programa??

The server error encountered was: The server “http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp

Looks to me like the name changed to http://oe.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata, and the plug-in times out before it's redirected.

so that's why Mail doesn't quit sometimes... i was starting to get worried about that.
