one of the main things im using my PC for is movie watching..
Currently using an ATI card coz it has the option og running 2 diffrent resolutions at the same time and giving me the option on running a movie on my tv and using the computer at the same time for internet browsing ect..
But how is apple about this.. does it work the same way or is it just a clone of the monitor..
And what about sound.. was planning on using a optics cable.. does the mac support DTS and all the other sound format (offcause not HD sound formats)

You can have dual monitors buying the mini dvi, to vga or dvi and extends them although when i watch a movie it blacks out both screens. As for optic sound all you have to play with is normal jack sound unfortinitly.

Ok so u want to play a dvd on your tv while being able to still be on the computer on the other screen im not sure but on vlc it blacks out both screens im not sure about dvd player, right now im on a crappy windoze box and cant. But why not just buy a hdmi dvd player thingy? Then have the mini dvi for computer use.

Check your prefs; there is a setting to change that behavior in VLC.
