dock question

i opened a program and it put the icon in the dock, and when i went to close it, i accidently hit "keep in dock", so now it stays there perminantly...well its not a program that i use very often, so how do i get it out of the dock?

Drag the icon out of the dock and drop it.

Click-hold on the icon and drag it off the dock and let go. It will go "poof" and the alias will disappear, but you aren't deleting the program.

Just click & hold on the icon. Then drag the mouse away from the dock and let go. It will go poof. Don't worry - this doesn't destroy the application, it just removes it from the dock. :)
