Safari will not connect to network but FF does

Safari and Software Update will not connect to the network but Firefox and Mail have no problems... any help would be appreciated... hardwire network.
 
are you using some kind of proxy? Static IP addressing? Do you have any kind of network monitoring software like Little Snitch?
 
Yes, it was the proxy issue... removed it and now all is ok... Have no clue how it got there in the first place... thanks...
