Yesterday, my laptop was sitting on a table and i was looking at powerpoint slides. All of a sudden, the keyboard started acting strangely. It functions as if Numlock is on, but the Numlock button doesn't work, neither does the number 6 button. The Volume+/- or Brighten +/- doesn't work either. When I hit the command/apple button, the shutdown options appear.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? I have no idea what to do. Restarting doesn't work.

(I have a Tibook 400 running OS X.3.2)

Sounds like you have a stuck key. On my keyboard at least (Pismo) the num lock is right above the 6 key, and I bet they're stuck down. Easiest way to fix this is to remove the keyboard (on my machine there's the little screw next to num lock, may be in a different place on yours.) Underneath you can look at whether the contacts are stuck.

Good luck.
