can I connect a bass guitar directly to my tascam 1082 audio interface?

have you tried this? just judging from the photos i have seen of this i would have to say yes.
let me know how it goes though because i am looking for an interface just now :)

The interface has line level and mic level inputs only, which means you'll need a DI (Direct Inject) box to match the impedance of your bass with the impedance of one of the mic inputs.

Most audio manufacturers offer DI boxes, I have a BSS, but there are lots around.
