Hey everyone, absolutely love the macbook air but I have noticed over the past few days that two of my pixels are stuck green. I made an appointment to talk with the geniuses tomorrow and hopefully find a solution.

Anybody had experience with something like this before? How did Apple handle it? Any idea on a timeframe to get this thing fixed?

They probably won't replace for two pixels. I think their limit is five. You've made an appointment for a walk-in, "no, we don't do that" service.

I hate to break it to you but this is why you check your purchase within the first 14 days so you can return it.

Sorry bud, I don't think they'll do a swap with just two dead pixels. It sucks, but the industry standard is 5.

You can try and 'masssage' it out, or use those pixel fixing programs, that flash all the colours on the screen, looks crazy but people say it works. Neither of them worked for my MBA, i think i ended up making it worse =p

Interesting that five pixels is the "industry standard" for replacing a computer. My wife had a pixel go out on her iPhone and they swapped it out for her after she had it for a few months.

As far as checking my computer after purchase, I obviously did that. The bright pixels have appeared after about three months of use... not much I can do about that as far as returning it within 14 days of purchase.

I think I'll take my chances and at least hear what apple has to say about it tomorrow. Thanks for the input.

I am sorry to say that they might turn you off but it never hurts to try.

Is it a revA or revB? Do you have the lines? :D

You mean I have to wait for another 4 more on my iMac? Hope the next one is a different colour, getting tired of red :D

p.s. Pixel Fix widget has been no help for me. Glad I have Apple Care

Stuck pixels suck, I hope they come through for you!

iPods and iPhones have a zero dead/stuck pixel policy, however every other LCD product Apple sells does not. Each product varies with how many pixels are tolerable before they allow servicing.

There is a chart that shows what their policy is, but I can't remember where it is at the moment. I think someone posted it on the modmyi.com forums.

When Apple replaced my last MacBook Pro I told them a number of issues that were wrong with it. Among those issues was two dead pixels and when I was contacted by Apple they stated that was the only issue that they considered did not warrant a replacement. So unfortunately I believe you are out of luck :(

I beg to differ.... I had 3 dead pixels on the lower right side of my Macbook Pro 15", the computer had 9 month's of beeing in my hands (not on the 14 or 15 day period when you can request a direct "no questions asked" replacement), toke it to Apple to get fixed and they replaced the LCD at no cost and gave me a extra 1 year waranty on the new LCD.

(Got the papers to prove it)

The down side is that i had to wait 28 days for the replacement to be done...
