Hi. I'm not very computer savvy, so please be patient with me.
(iBook 1.33 GHz PPC G4, OS 10.4.11)

I had DivX 2.2 for Mac installed, so I downloaded DivX 6.7.2 for Mac from the developer's site. Before I installed the new version, I used the uninstaller to get rid of the old version. I also used Spotlight and threw away everything that the uninstaller didn't purge. Then re-booted the computer.

I started the installation of the new version. I confirmed that it said "version 6.7.2." When the installation was done, it said that it seemed that I had an old version of DivX player, and I had to re-boot to finalize the upgrading. I thought that it was strange because I threw away everything with "DivX" in the name. Why did it "think" that I had an old version installed? After restarting, I checked the version of newly installed DivX Player. It said "2.2." The version "6.7.2" wasn't seen anywhere.

I repeated the process several times but I always ended up with "2.2."

What's going on??? I'm stumped.😕
