View Full Version : My MacBook Air Tattoo

HasanDaddy
Jan 6, 2009, 08:28 PM
hey dudes!

I decided to tattoo my MBA --- I was sick of it looking silver and plain

My ULTRA-TALENTED sister (who is actually a medical doctor) did the design --- pretty sweet, huh?

what did she use on it? marker? Pretty cool  I like the naked look myself

HasanDaddy

she used a Sharpie

it's faded since then, but that adds character!

Yeah, the bleed-through look is not that great IMO.

Could have had a professional job done here (http://www.etchstar.com/).

.... and what happened on the Apple stem?

looks cool, but might I suggest a second sharpie coat? then it would look killer! :)

Done and designed by my ULTRA-TALENTED sister, whose a medical doctor, actually

Tell her not to quit her day job :(

I'm sorry if that sounds mean... It is your laptop and all.

So then I guess getting an Apple related tatoo isn't cool? :o
I was planning on getting one...

the apple logo is cool looking, but i read "macbook air tattoo", imagine a tattoo of a freakin laptop.

It is one thing to be passionate for a company. It is another to be border line psycho for a company.

With that said a laptop tattoo is much more weird than an Apple logo tattoo but still...

Haha, thats pretty awesome.

Thought about getting it laser etched in? Would look even better imo

Since this is a forum, and you can give opinions on a forum, I first, am going to respect your opinion of your Macbook Air of it looking quite nice. I on the other hand, think that is the stupidest thing one could possibly do to their nearly $2,000.00 laptop. I mean, the lines aren't even filled in all the way? Maybe if more time had been taken into it and your sister had sketched the lines in pencil and then carefully colored them in completely it would have looked better, but IMO it just looks like trash. It looks like a doodle that belongs in a 10th grader's Chemistry notebook.

As stated previously, just an opinion.

I'm going to do something to mine, but not sure what i want to do on it just yet.

I suppose you could use some strong type of cleaner to get it off? Or is it there for life?

Jan 6, 2009, 10:01 PM
as you posted it here for opinions, here is mine -

that is one of the worst things I have ever seen done. bloody awful....

If you are going to get something like this done, take it to someone who can actually execute the design, rather than the child like colouring you have done.

Sorry for the rudeness, but this is a shocker:eek::eek:

Eew, just eew. That looks horrible.

JoshBoy
Jan 6, 2009, 10:14 PM
Sorry but i just can't see how you could do that with a texta, if you do something like that do it right. Use a sticker or make the sticker yourself or better yet use a paint.
I was always told as well to respect my things and look after them, for me this goes against it... sorry

haiggy
Jan 6, 2009, 10:46 PM
The worst part is the stem and the circle around the logo which isn't even a circle. The rest of it is original and creative and would look a lot better done professionally etched. Go get some rubbing alcohol and take that off. Actually if the rubbing alcohol didn't work but smeared it all instead it might look even better LOL Just my opinion.

Jan 6, 2009, 11:00 PM
that has to be the best macbook air I've seen. I applaud you sir for having the guts to do it, and to your sister for her excellent sharpie skillz.

Personally, the impression (not a bad one) i get is "hey look, i'm rich so i have no problems drawing on my macbook air, because i can always get another..just a slab of aluminium to me"

definitely beats those guys with their stickers lol :p

If you tried submitting a post to the thread that no longer exists you would get an error screen after hitting submit. If you submitted your reply to the thread # that was used for the merged thread it would have worked without error.

Maybe its that pesky alligator infestation in the intertubes.

I posted in the MBA forum, and then realized that I probably should've done it in the images forum, so I posted twice (sorry)

One luv to those who dig it

Artwork is an extension of one's soul, as my sister's drawing is on my MBA --- my best creative work (filmmaking, writing, etc) happens on my MBA --- having a part of my sister on the surface of this machine inspires me to continue forging as an artist, just as she has done

peace and love all!

As a professional graphic designer I am both shocked and appalled!

It makes me shudder its so nasty!

Such a beautiful example of design destroyed. Each to their own I guess. :(

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Sdashiki
Jan 7, 2009, 10:52 AM
Permanent marker is easily removed with rubbing alcohol. Getting the MBA back to original looking is not a problem.

IMO, its ugly...I mean, wow, you didnt fill in the lines...you can clearly see that thin sharpie markers (vs the HUGE fat tips) are not made for large swatches of color.

Ok, in a harsher tone, its fugly. Looks like a little child did the design and never finished it.

I suggest taking the design and having it made into a vinyl sticker if you like it so much.

I'm definately agreeing with that ^
Though I don't have any "stones", i gotta tell ya... it'd take some biggins!
