Powerbook power adapter color

For quite some time now, my powerbook's adapter plug stays green and fails to switch to orange while charging. I've tried other adapters ( I have two) and have reset the PMU. It isn't a big deal because it still appears to work correctly... but it would be cool to get it to work again.

did you leave it plugged in for more than 10 minutes?
Sometimes it wont show that its charging for a while.

Yep, the adapter never switches color. One possibility is that somehow the connector in the powerbook is partially damaged. I've tried different adapters and batteries without success. Is the light controlled by software?
