As a student is a imac a write of for my parents?

Trying to come up with funds for a new computer and was wondering if I can pitch the idea to my dad that its a tax write off.


Also if my primary use is photo editing would it be worth upgrading to the NVIDIA GeForce 8800?
 
Nope it is not a tax write off, but you as their dependent gives them a tax break. 😉

And the 8800 is great for large files 150mb+ and other stuff. I have it in my MacPro and basically it is overkill.
 
It's only a tax write off if you use it for business, and even then you have to depreciate it, you can't write off the full amount the first year.
 
You'll be a lot better off with the 8800 in the long run. If you ever decide you want to dabble in games you'll be glad you have it.
