Im am currently transferring VHS tapes to DVD. Im using Final Cut Pro to capture. My standard procedure has just been exporting as a final cut quicktime file with chapter menus and then burning with iDVD. Is there a better alternative for quality, space, etc. I read that MPEG 2-would work. Any thoughts, advice? Thanks.

MPEG-2 is what DVDs that have movies on are written in and that would save space because the videos are being compressed. DVD Studio Pro compresses them to MPEG-2 files when you click burn so that is already taken care of. If anyone else has suggestions they would be appreciated by Mac4lifeOG and myself.

Thanks,
David

I'd suggest using Compressor and DVD Studio Pro as opposed to iDVD. You get more control over the process w/Compressor which means you can fit better looking video into a smaller file size. I know Compressor and DVD SP can look intimidating, but it's pretty easy to get down the basics.
