noise when opening and closing case

You might want to just have it checked out by apple. Could just be a minor issue that they can fix.

This is normal for a plastic Mac....

Its a thermosetting plastic so its going to do that.

how long have you had it? mines is quiet as a mouse.

Mine was doing the same thing super bad, so i took it to the store and told me there was nothing wrong with it but would fix it anyways. when i got it back i have heard nothing for about 2 months.

Mine only makes a slight creak when you start and stop moving it, else its silent when you open and close it. Apart from when the magnets click... or when I start swearing after catching the skin of my hand in the back of the hinge... man that thing nips!
