Good laptop for my dad?

My dad is looking to get a laptop, of course I showed him the ibooks and powerbooks but, "I don't know apples!" :rolleyes:

I have been tring to convince him for years that Apple makes a much better computer and package blah, blah, blah...



My dad would just use it for word prosessing, internet, old people bisness stuff. He is looking at the IBM T Series 41. It looks pretty cool. I would be using it too some of the time so I don't really want him to get the really slow 64Mb ram model.

But are there any other good laptop manufactures out there or any models you can suggest? Thanks!

Check out HP/Compaq/Toshiba

They have some really good models.

they are really well designed
used to have a lifebook
and
for a wintel
it was wonderful

IBM t41p has my vote...they look best in the windows world.

forgot to mention alienware too. Don't forget to check out their centrino line. at less weight than the powerbook, they are very nice!

I just researched PC laptops rather extensively.

Look at: Dell, Fujitsu, Sager, Alienware, Sony, and Toshiba.
Shy away from: Gateway, Micro Express, eMachines, Sharp, Chem USA, Acer, Amax, Averatec, Hewlett Packard, and Compaq.

I was more or less looking for the PC equivalent of something around a 12" iBook or a 15" Powerbook that was under $2000 with XP Pro and Office. I had it narrowed down to a Dell Inspiron 600m, Fujitsu E4000D, and a Sager NP3750c. Went with the Dell. YMMV.
