can you put a 1gb stick in a G4... i remember reading that the G4s max is 4GB but they only sell 512 sticks. I have a dual 1.42 G4. Is this possible?

Sure should be. 1Gig sticks are coming down in price, I may have to get one and take my TiBook to 1.5Gb some day...

I think it should work. Low End Mac says here (http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/g4-142.html) that the 1.42 uses PC2700 RAM. If you use that or faster RAM, I would think you could use a 1 Gig stick. However, I personally wouldn't buy 1 gig DIMMs, because they're about 4 times the cost of 512s.

That 2 GB maximum was the theoretical max before 1 GB RAM sticks were released. The PMG4 can handle up to the 4 GB RAM limit of its 32-bit processor.
