I dare anyone to try this:

I usually have my mbp connected to this display.

I hooked up my macbook and use it for a while there.

Now it now longer charges my mbp and will only charge macbook.

Did apple only design this to work with one notebook? You cant switch back.

My guess is that if I hooked up a MBA to it, it would no longer charge the macbook.

Come on. WTF

No, they did not design it to work with one particular product. Check both the power connecter on the ACD and the power port on the MBP for dust or debris. If it still doesn't work, try charging the MBP with the standard portable charger that came with the laptop. If it charges, then the cable on the ACD is bad. If it doesn't charge, then the connector on your MBP is bad.

It charges macbook now only, not the mbp. mbp charges fine on regular charger.

I used both a MBP and MB on mine before I retuned it. What color is the indicator on the connector when you plug it into the MBP? Does it light up at all?

It is red (charging) on macbook and a faint green on mbp. It has the plug icon over the battery but says it is not charging.

Its the same behavior as if you plug a macbook charger into the mbp. It will power the notebook but will not charge the battery.

Very strange. That definitely isn't normal behavior. It looks like there are others having the same issue.

Why the return? I love mine...

I had a heat issue with two displays and decided to take it back while I was still in my return window.
