Is Apple online the only place to get a new MacBook upgraded to 4GB or do the Apple retail stores carry a certain amount of stock ready upgraded?

What I don't want is to have to pay for a 2GB and ask the shop to upgrade as I believe that works out more expensive and I'd have no use for the 2GB they take out and give back to you.

I'm in the UK, thinking of going to the Trafford Centre tomorrow. On Apple's website the 2.4 with 4GB costs £1223. Will I be able to get one for the same price instore?

Anyone know?

The apple store can upgrade you,but it will cost a LOT.Lots of people prefer not to buy Apple's memory and instead go to, for example, crucial. The only ones in the store have stock configuration, usually 2GB

apple jips you when you buy online because the keep the 2gb ram.

so if u buy it with 2gb of ram and upgrade it to 4gb yourself, u can ebay he 2gb.

my friend did this and got $82.
