Folks,

I just ordered a Mac Pro and I have a GeForce 8800 GTS (640MB) in my PC currently. Is there any way to get this card to work in my Mac Pro?

Thanks,

Scott

Flash it with the 8800GT ROM. Depending on the ordered Mac Pro, you'll need the EFI32 or EFI64 ROM.

Does that mean I can't get it to work?

I am getting a FA970LL/A which is a Mac Pro 2.8 8CX/2X1G/320/2600XT-USA if that helps.

It'll work under Windows but it can't be flashed to work in OS X.

Hang on, so then what's the model that isn't the 8800 GT that can be flashed?

I think the Quadro FX5600 is G80 based. I've never heard of anybody doing it to the 8800GTS 640mb cards but you might be able to use the firmware from that and flash it to the GTS if it has a 128k ROM chip etc. etc...

bruinmacs seems to have the 8800 GTS working for the earlier EFI32 Mac Pros.
