My iPhone is freezing a lot now... It started doing this after installing and uninstalling free applications from the apple store.. How can I fix this?
If I do a full reset.. Should I recover data from the last backup or should I start everything from scratch?

This happened to me, I restored and all was well again.
Try using a backup first time if you want but if it's still freezing then restore it fresh.

Do you think those free applications may damage the OS of the iPhone?
What is the best way to reset the iPhone... From the same phone or connection it to iTunes and click restore?

No, the freezing thing is a simple software bug, hopefully it will be repaired in the next update.
Restore it via iTunes, resetting on the phone only clears your data and settings, it dosent rewrite the firmware which is what you want it to do.

The last time I reset the iPhone in the same phone by going to settings/reset/reset all content and settings and it took almost 2 hours... It made the phone like new... The only thing was that it still had the 2.0 update installed...

I would advise you use iTunes to do a restore, it will update your firmware if needed, too.

OP, have you ever completely switched off your iPhone? Might do the trick.

If it freezes up he would need to reboot it to make it work again anyway.

a reboot usually fixes the problem as it releases memory being held by programs that havnt closed 100%.
