I ripped The Dark Knight using Ripit and changed the suffix to .avi but I get a message that the file appears to be damaged when I drop the video file into Popcorn. I tried to rip it with MTR and it takes forever to scan it and then the application quits. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance

As it is not an avi file, why did you rename it as such?

It would have to be *CONVERTED* into an .AVI file in order to be one. Have you checked out Handbrake?

Just control click on your .dvdmedia and do show contents.
you will see the video_ts folder. Which you can burn with toast or further proses with dvd2onex.
You also can use visualhub or handbrake to convert the video_ts to ipod or apple t.v.
