I have a friend of mine whom has the iBook G4 late 2004 model. I am trying to figure out if the harddrive is a standard 2.5 laptop drive or a standard 3.5 desktop drive. The reason I ask is it says that the drive is "30GB ATA/100 4200 rpm" from Apple's website. The only ATA/100 I am finding are 3.5" desktop drives.

Any ideas?

This is the drive we are considering http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136159

There are 2.5" ATA drives. WD calls them EIDE and Seagate has Ultra ATA/100. www.ifixit.com has some drives for sale if you go into their iBook G4 HDD replacement guide here:

Just look under the "Parts relevant to this guide" near the top of the page.
