I have read about the screen flickering on the REV B Air. I bought this model 2 days ago. I went to your forum and saw this link:

My screen looks normal when I open this photo. But when I click and enlarge it then I do see flickering. But not on the original image that opens when I click on the above link.
If there is no flickering unless I enlarge the image, does that mean everything is OK with my screen. I certainly don't see any of the line problems that have been discussed.
Thanks

FYI, the mods closed the thread about the line and flickering, please don't start up another one. At any rate, it shouldn't matter whether you can see lines flickering from a certain test page, as long as you have a comfortable view from everything else on your Air then let it go and enjoy your computer. You've allowed this forum to scare you about using your computer. It shouldn't take a forum to inform you that your computer has issues, they should be plainly visible from the get go.

If you look at your screen normally, and nothing appears out of the ordinary and nothing is bothering you about it, who gives a ******* if it flickers on a test image or not?
Seriously, unless you're getting a headache or you have eagle eyes and can see the lines from a normal viewing distance, don't worry about it.
My screen flickers on the image and has the lines, but neither bother me since from where I keep the distance I can't see the lines, and unless I'm looking at that image, I notice no flicker.
Zero dead or stuck pixels, excellent colour contrast and saturation make this screen a hell of a lot better than the pieces of **** they stick in the Macbooks.

And you 'don't want anybody else starting it up again'? Why the hell not?
Has this issue suddenly, magically, gone away. Nope.
I have, after a long time saving up, got the money to splash on an Apple laptop, but unfortunately the choice is dismal.
The unibody Macbooks and MBPros are out as I simply cannot handle the reflectivity. I can't afford the new 17".
That leaves me with a choice of a refurbished MBPro or the Air, my preferred choice. My girlfriend has a MBPro and the weight just seems too much to me, especially after handling an Air, so I was all set for the Rev.B Air, HD model.
Here's the BUT. The screens are pretty bad, to say the least. There are two Apple stores within 7 miles of my home and the four Airs on display ALL have the lines. They're just THERE. Obviously there. When looking at the two in one of those stores tonight, my girlfriend, without me mentioning anything else, also said they seemed to flicker. They are also not as bright or clear as the MBPro.
It is an issue. I spoke to a genius and yeah, he said he saw them, but that personally it wouldn't bother him. And that none have been brought back.
Who knows.
All I know is that all four models I've seen are vastly inferior to the MBPro's on display and I certainly ain't gonna hand over £1271 for a laptop with a display like that.
Yeah I could buy one, open it instore, and if the screen is the same as those four, get an immediate refund. To be honest I don't want to do that. I want to purchase my Air feeling confident it'll be as lovely as the Pro's, screenwise, and take it home to open later, NOT in the bloody store.
In any event, it IS an issue. Ongoing, and if folks want to post and ask about it before possibly buying an Air, what the hell is wrong with that.

When you first load up the image most web browsers will shrink it to a smaller size and then give you a magnifying glass or a + symbol when you hover your mouse over it. When you actually click on it the browser will display it at the original proper size.
The reason there is no flickering at the smaller size is the image gets distorted and the horizontal lines aren't properly spaced. The image test is very precise. Distorting the image makes it useless. Always view test images at their original size.

I won't start a lines thread if you can get me my cash and time back dealing with this issue.
Whether one can or can not see the problem doesn't mean there isn't a problem. Isn't ignorance just bliss? :D
