I definitely thing the first one is girly, the second one is kind of in the middle. It's up to you though. If that's what you like, get it and don't care what other people think.

Also known as "try not to turn it in to a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling".

Certainly - what you decide to have is a very personal decision, so make it matter to *you*, and screw everyone who doesn't understand it.

Do a lot of tattooists get asked to put clothes on dogs?

I don't think stars are any more tacky than half of the tattoos I've seen on people. I actually like stars. :o ...not that I'm getting them tattooed on me, I have enough regrets from my one stupid tattoo.
To the original question, yes, that is rather girly but it's your body, do what you want.

Tattoos are lame.
How about the clean, unaltered, classy and timeless untattoo'd look? It never goes out of fashion, doesn't cost you any extra money, doesn't hinder job opportunities- I could go on for a while on this one.

Every tattoo I've seen on anyone currently can be considered trendy. Barbed wire, cherry blossoms, stars, insert your tattoo here. I got a tattoo last week on my wrist with barbed wire and a moon and stars on it, trendy yes, girly, probably. I don't really care, the tattoo looked cool when I saw it and I got it.
The dumbest thing I've ever heard was that a tattoo on a girls lower back indicated she was a tramp. Some of the biggest tramps I've known never had a single tattoo.
It sucks that people have to make judgements on what others choose to do with their bodies and with people they don't even know. The world could be a much better place but unfortunately, it's just a worthless thought.

true but at the same time, its nice to get advice on things before you do them at times too. not necessarily talking about this either but in general

Doesn't matter what stars you choose, it's going to end up looking pretty girly... Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but if you get a tattoo that is at all "controversial," you'll have to be prepared for people giving you crap about it and you being stuck with it, even if they get to you.

I think the tats look good. I wouldn't be worried about them looking 'girly' or whatever personally. I've always thought angelic wings were cool and more effeminate renditions of them seem to look much more appealing, imo. Girly? Prolly.
I personally would never get a tat though. I don't have anything against them, I think they look cool if done right, but I'm not sure how I would feel about it on my skin when I'm 70-odd* with my skin dribbling down me.
*(been off the cigarettes for 2 months now, so it's beginning to look like there's a real chance of me making it to 70!) :p

Just be sure to get a tattoo that you will be really happy with. If you have any doubts then maybe you should take a step back and think about what you really want.
Don't rush into anything but don't be put off if not everyone likes your tattoo.

eh i disagree. i mean i know people that got the whole barb wire around the bicep only because it looked cool and didnt mean anything to them
i also know people that got tattoos of say their newborns footprint on their back shoulder
some definitly are more meaningful than others id say. but who am i, thats just my opinion

If you have a really ripped back, I don't think anyone is going to think it's girly.
But...if you aren't enthused enough about it that you're absolutely sure you want it, maybe you'd do better to wait until you feel strongly one way or another. A tattoo is a long-term commitment.

The thing that stands out to me is that the OP seems pretty concerned about what other people will think about a tattoo they want. If you are unsure, and people's opinions could sway your tattoo choice, IMO, you probably should not be getting something that cannot be undone easily.
Ear piercing when unsure, fine, you can remove it, things grow back, all is good. Tattoo, when unsure, will either incur a costly removal in the future, or a lifetime of regretting the choice every time you see the tattoo in the mirror.
Bottom line, if it can't be easily undone, be damn sure that it's what you want and that you'll be happy with it no matter what anyone else thinks or says.

If you're going to do it, do it with meaning. Don't just get a tattoo to get one.

Agreed but if he has doubts now then what will happen the first time someone says something. Clearly he cares what people think of him.

I don't get the idea of putting a tattoo somewhere on your body where you can't look at it without a mirror. Seems like putting neon under your car - yes, you may think it looks really cool, but you never get to see it.
That being said, if you want a tattoo of stars on your neck spilling onto your back, get 'em. Who gives a feck what anyone else thinks? It's your body.

I don't get the idea of putting a tattoo somewhere on your body where you can't look at it without a mirror.
For me, the sexiest places to see a tattoo on someone else just happen to be the parts of the body the wearer can't see that easily. I think back tats are far more alluring than chest or arm tattoos. But maybe that's just me. I don't have tattoos myself, but if I got them they would probably be where I can't see them all the time.

I have two tattoos, but both have special meaning to my life. If its what you want, cool. Go for it. Not going to council on you about how you might regret it, thats dumb. If you want it bad enough to sit in a waiting room while they prepare your needle, you will have plenty of time to contemplate whether you really want it enough. Once you find the one you know you want it will hit you like a ton of bricks. Good luck!

Come on, we all know real men get skulls and naked chicks for tattoos!
Seriously though, if you're going to ink yourself up, make sure you're working with a top-notch artist. My wife just got essentially a half-sleeve done, and the guy who did it was phenomenal. Not cheap though...
