macOS Applescript: How to set overlap and gap width on an Excel graph

I am having trouble setting the gap width and overlap on a clustered column excel graph. Any ideas? I've tried things like: set the gap width of column group 1 to 30 (within a tell chart block) and that causes Excel to close, and gives my an "invalid connection" error message.
