"A Memphis woman was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after she bludgeoned her boyfriend to death with an iPod. [...]

Brad Pulaski had died of blunt trauma to the head after being repeatedly bludgeoned with an iPod, a popular MP3 player produced by Apple. [...]

According to law officers, Mathers was hysterical when police arrived and told them that she killed her boyfriend only after he accused her of illegally downloading music and erased about 2,000 of her MP3s. Mathers complained that it took 3 months to build her music collection."

“It took him a while to die,” Dr. Klamut said. “She must have stabbed him 40 to 80 times with that iPod. His death was not instantaneous, that’s for sure”

Someone really has some issues, and I'm thinking that its more than just having a few songs erased....

Wow, that's a really good knock-off of CNN's page/article style--it had me completely fooled until I noticed the top says "Headlined News" with the extra 'd' compared to "Headline News." Granted it was only about 10 seconds, but I was about 5 seconds away from sending the URL to a friend as a serious item. :o

On a related note, due to the wonderful skip protection of the iPod, it never skipped once during the attack.

see, and people say that the iPod has no other uses... it's a multi-function tool! :p

agree... also if you back track so the URI, it leads you to someone's personal website. I was fooled for a bit, till I read your post then examined the evidence.

In case there's any doubt, despite the messages above--

this is not a real story. it's a joke.

kind of funny tho, for the "i could see that actually happen" factor :D

Wonder how well the iPod stood up to this unique form of abuse, doubtful the Dell MP3 player could have withstood that without turning into a handfull of pieces parts.

Almost reminds me of the old Timex commercials - "Takes a licking, and keeps on ticking..."

... or the Samsonite gorilla commercial.

While other parts of the tech industry are looking for their "killer apps" we can see that the iPod is way ahead once again. ;)

It's amazing how often people get fooled by satire. I used to teach college writing, and several times my students tried to use stories from The Onion (http://theonion.com/news/) as sources for research papers.

Well, Michael Moore has The Onion listed as one of his news sites, so it must be creditable

Well, now that the iPod can be used as a deadly weapon, we must ban it from everywhere... Guns don't kill people, iPods kill people... I guess you'll have to have a license from now on to carry a concealed iPod...

The good thing for this woman, though, is that she can only be tried for murder, not murder and illegal downloading of music...

That is very sad. May he rest in peace. I imagine that there has been ongoing issues with this couple. This was just the puberal final straw that broke the camels back. Sadly in a beating type of death the victim suffers.

You know, if you're able to read the original story, you should be able to read the subsequent posts where we discuss this being a joke. Once again, for all that missed it, so you don't have to feel sorry for the guy (or the iPod)

this story is a joke

Thank you :)

The page you are looking for cannot get laid and so it's currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing gas, genital warts or may need to put on sexy lingerie and adjust its browser settings.

Please try the following:

Try to hit on the Refresh button, or try again later after this Web site is drunk.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly and you’re not so damn horny that you left out a letter or two.

To check your connection settings, lick the Tool menu, and then tongue Internet Options. On the Connections tab, dry hump Settings. The settings should match those of a man that's old, naked and hairy, just like your local area network (PERV) administrator or Internet Service Provider (ASS).

If your Netwerk Administrator is a horn dog, Microsoft Windows can striptease for your network and automatically get you excited.
If you would like windows to get you horny, you can discover your netwerk connection settings by clicking Dance Baby Dance!

Some sites require that 128-bit connection security but not this one. We use The Club. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer if you have trouble looking at porn.

If you’re trying to buy blow-up dolls, nudie magazines, hot oils and such, make sure your Security settings can support it. Master the Tool menu, and then bate Internet Options. If you’re more advanced, roll your tongue across the Security section and bark like a dog. Yeah, that’s it. You’re turning me on now.

Kiss my Booty to try another link.

Ban iPods!!!! Do it for the boyfriends (and the children)!!!!
:p ;) :p

We need iPod control.
We need a background check and 10 day waiting period before people can buy iPods.
We need to clamp down on assault MP3 players and high capacity storage.

If someone deleted by 7400 songs (ripped from my 500+ CDs), I would be very upset, and I'd kick him out of the house. Then I'd restore the collection from my backup tapes and be fully restored a few hours later.

Turns out the NRA, John Ashcroft and Ted Nugent are pushing for legalizing concealed iPods. I carry mine. If you want it, you'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands. (But leave the noise-cancelling headphones)

iPods don't kill people. People kill people.

I think we need an amendment to the Constitution.

A well regulated music collection, being necessary to the security of data, the right of the people to keep and bear iPods, shall not be infringed.

Then we need a powerful lobby with an office in the White House to influence legislation beneficial to iPod owners and manufacturers. We could pass legislation exempting iPod manufacturers from lawsuits in just this type of case. We can foster the impression among iPod owners that they are under attack from the federal government, and that filling out the registration card guarantees that the govenment will come and forcibly take your iPod from you. :D

The headline "Woman kills boyfriend with iPod", is ambiguous, like "I shot an elephant in my pajamas". It could simply mean that her boyfriend had an iPod and she killed him. Maybe it should have been "Boyfriend gets crazy beat from iPod." No, I guess that wouldn't help. ;)

Beats the headline 'Children Make Tasty Treats'!

Or the joker who messed with the horticulture club's ad in my school paper. They were giving away a free potted plants as a promotion, but the headline for the event read 'Free Pot Plants'. :D

LOL

maybe that can be the idea of the next campain - definitely 'killing me softly" by lauren hill playing in the background.

I actually heard that 'hit me with your best shot' was playing on the iPod while she was killing him.

Thank you for the update, it is a relief to know the truth. Although someone loosing there life isn't something to joke about.

There is nothing that can't be joked about. Joking about serious issues demonstrates that you can put things in perspective. An example, as noted by George Carlin: Think it's not funny to joke about rape? Picture Porky Pig..... Now picture Porky Pig raping Elmer Fudd. See?

Dan

Disclaimer:
Please don't jump on my back for joking about rape. I have a loved one who was raped and I think the act is vile and disgusting. She still laughs at that joke, however.

I would have thought the iPod advert (on the same page as a story about it being used as a lethal weapon) would have been a 'dead' giveaway! ;)
