This is for my parents house by the way. I sometimes visit just to visit and help with their basic computer questions. They just have one desktop and one very old laptop but that's another story. They have a local Internet provider called digis.net which is basically satellite Internet. They are very reliable and have very good customer service. They cover other states besides Utah.

The Ethernet cable runs from the wall and into the router. They have the Linksys WRT160N v.2 wireless router. Which connects the Motorola VT2442 Vonage box and the laptop right next to it. My father never moves the laptop and has the laptop on its own separate desk. I have the wireless router to only transmit in 802.11n. I am attaching what the Motorola VT2442 looks like.

I bring my Macbook when I visit. Since I am an assistant to the I.T. guy at work. I have to have a good Internet connection. When I am grabbing a big file that work sent me and my folks receive a phone call or if they make a phone call. It is choppy. Very choppy. I then have to pause the download wait till they are off the phone and resume the download. This is all done by wifi by the way. My question is how do I solve this little annoying problem??

Will it be the Vonage service? The 3-year old Motorola Vonage box that is not prioritizing the calls right? Or is it the Linksys wireless router that is not prioritizing the calls and the Internet connection.

They don't have a 2.4 ghz phone. They have three phones that operate at the 5.8 ghz frequency. But I don't think that has nothing to do with it. But I wonder if they should buy a 6 ghz phone. Almost forgot to mention their Internet speed is set at the theoretical limit of 7 megabits. I hope someone can help out with this.

Thank you.

p.s.I've also attached my QoS screen and also the wireless setup screen from the wireless router.
