i have a buddy who is currently using the old school 23" Apple Displays on a RTA Creation Station Desk. he feels the monitor is a bit too high, and it's creating a strain on his neck.

was wondering what the alternatives are for lowering the computer monitor.

he's not opposed to getting a new monitor and an arm to attach. a new 23"/24" Apple Display would be cool because it's fairly thin on the bottom, but the arms are either too small to handle 23"; or it's too big/heavy for the desk (the desk is kinda flimsy with particle pressed wood) and because of its protrusion position we may need to offset it to the side...

i'm using 2 Samsung 17" Syncmaster 172x that collapses all the way down which helps, but they don't make these for 23" at all...

any suggestions?

How about instead of lowering the monitor, he can either buy a higher chair or lower desk.

we thought about that, but -

1) you'll see that the desk has rack space in it, so he keeps his audio interface and preamps there (he's a musician/composer)... which means lower desk is out of the picture.

2) he just bought a $600 Herman-Miller Mirra chair. it's more about comfort and good posture.

the monitor thing seems like the easiest and most cost effective way to do things.

There is no other way but to unmount the ACD from its stand and buying an external mounter.

Something like this: http://www.macmall.com/macmall/shop...t-Monitor+&+Projector+Accessories&dpno=459843
