hi, i bought 2.4 MBP and i did fresh install on the machine.
however
i tried to boot from cold and to my surprise my 2 years old MacBook 2.0 boot up much faster then my brand new , fresh install 2.4 MBP.

are tthis normal ?

is there any benchmark software for mac ?

i know that the gaming department is much better on my MBP,
but for any other simpler task i wonder how it's compared to my old maacbook.

here my spec:

New 2.4 MBP Unibody
2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM DDR 3
500GB 5400 rpm

Old 2.0 MacBook Black
2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM DDR 2
250GB 5400 rpm

the slower booting time alone already making my sligtly regret on buying this so called "faster" MacBook Pro.

or is there something wrong with my MBP ?

thx.

I think that you should try iBench or Xbench. Boot time measurement is really not a good performance test.

so i guess this is normal then ?
does brand of RAM effect this as well regardless of the size ?
