Hi, well I have an iPod Nano 4th generation and I'm trying to play some videos on my tv and it won't work. I have the cables, I don't know the brand but they are not apple cables, and when I try nothing happens and the same thing happens with my iPhone.
If anyone can help thank you

Starting with the iPod Classic and the 3rd generation Nano, Apple requires the use of A/V cables with their licensed "authentication" chip. There is a cable for composite video (i.e., the single yellow video cable) and another cable for component video (red, blue & green leads). Both of them plug into the charging/sync port on the iPod. Other manufacturers can license and use the special chip, but I've only seen one Belkin cable that's listed as working for video with the newest iPods.
The last iPod that worked with the older A/V cable - the one that plugged into the headphone port - was the 5th generation iPod.
So, if you have the older cable, it simply won't work.
