Steve's world would end. I imagine ours will continue though, perhaps with less black turtlenecks, sadly.

Nope. Because Apple, despite some folks beliefs, isn't the product of only Steve Jobs. He does not design and create everything all by himself.
which was sort of the point of having other folks on the stage with him. to point out this important detail to the media that think the sky is failing cause he farted and it was smelly.
the crazy thing is that he could recover from his current issues and the day after returning get hit by a bus. who knows.

But Steve is part of the succsess of apple. There is a website with stories of the deveolpment of the original macintosh and iPod, and Steve's I'm better than you ******* attitude is why their products are good. Basicly, if something looks bad, or takes more than a few clicks to do something simple steve will throw it back in your face.

Did terrorism die when Yasser Arafat died? NO.
Did France disappear as a nation when Napoleon Bonaparte died? NO.
Did British pride evaporate when Winston Churchill died? Well... not sure.
Did the USA fall into ruins the day after George Washington died?
Did Christianity disappear the day after Jesus Christ was crucified and died on the cross?

Jonathan Ive is more a part of the current success of Apple than Steve Jobs is.

Johnathan Ive designs a good number of Apple products. All Steve really does is approve the designs and products and steer Apple with the help of the board. I have a feeling the board would find a CEO who carries on Jobs' tradition of KISS.
I have a feeling Apple will continue to thrive in the unfortunate event of Jobs' retirement or passing. Steve may be the figurehead and may have given Apple its characteristic qualities, but in an organization that large the atmosphere would remain mostly the same. Things wouldn't dissolve into anarchy overnight.

PART, not all. They relieved they F'd up when they kicked him out and came crawling back begging him to help them out. and he said okay but it was his way or not.
And then he set about to handpick folks that saw, understood and agreed with his vision. And they likely have the next ten years already underway.
So even if he died today, those folks can and would be there to keep things going the way Steve set it up.
So no real worries. Not for Apple and the products, which is all a lot of folks out there care about. You ask them about Steve dying and they will talk about "but then we might not ever get a new Mac Mini" or "there goes my stock value". Forget that a man with a family died.

Apple's success is due to Mac OSX and the switch to Intel. You can totally thank SJ for that.
Ive designed the hockey puck mouse and toilet seat iBooks. 'nuff said.
