Ok, I'm looking to get better sound for my home theater... but like said I don't know a thing about audio stuff. I'm currently using the TV speakers, which just isn't doing it anymore. Now do I need to get a receiver or can I get speakers that connect directly to my TV? I have a Sharp Aquos and it has an Digital Audio Output port. Can I hook something up to this?

Sorry, probably a couple stupid questions, but I'm totally clueless with this stuff.

Your best bet is to get a receiver/amp of some sort with digital audio inputs (and get at least a 5.1 amp). Connect the speakers to that. If you want to keep it simple, you could even get one of the "theater in a box" setups. Just make sure it has the inputs you need. Either way, if you're going to use the room as a theater-type room, do not just use the two speakers. Get surround sound. It's a world of difference.

Do you use the TV to tune, or do you have an external cable box?
