Customizing Touch Interface

I've been playing around with my new Touch since December, and I think I'm comfortable enough with it to start customizing the interface, like the background and dock at the bottom, as well as some of the icons. However, I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing that. Can I do this manually, or do I need to jailbreak it and use some application to do it all?

You have to jailbreak the ipod with quickpwn, and then install winterboard from cydia (this is what lets you apply themes) and then download themes from cydia and open up winterboard to apply them. It is really simple. Here is my theme :D

Do the themes come with icons for all of those apps?

If your iPod touch is the second generations you cannot jailbreak it at this moment.

Depend on who makes the themes. I made some of my own icons for webclips (macrumors, dev-team blog).

It is called glass orb. It comes with the dock. And I just used one of the iphone wallpapers that look the best with it. Since it is transparent it looks great will a bunch of different backgrounds
