HDMI cable will not plug in

I just bought an Apple TV and HDMI cable. But the cable will not seem to go into the Apple TV. It plugs into the TV just fine. What gives? I don't want to force it and break anything. Are there different types of HDMI or anything?

There is Mini HDMI, but the odds of you getting an HDMI to Mini HDMI cable are astronomically small.

Try plugging the end you plugged into the TV into the appleTV. If the cable connects to the appleTV just fine, then its the cable thats defective. If the neither end of the cable will insert into the appleTV, then its a defective appleTV and you should get it replaced.

Sometimes it is a bit tricky, just push it firmly, then it will work.
