This is a redesign of a school website, not yet implemented. It will be hosted on a school server, but during testing I have it on geocities. I have used the W3C validator, and it is good XHTML and CSS. However, the little part that geocities inserts in the bottom of the code makes it not seem so.
The heading "Logo" will be replaced by the school name and an actual logo, still being designed. Since the logo will be black and white, its colors will not affect the color scheme. I realize that colors do need tweaking, but it needs to be mainly blue and white, the school colors. If anyone can find better shades of blue and grey, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have only tried this with Safari 1.2 and MSIE 5.1. It would be great if anyone, especially those with older browsers, could comment.
Edit: grammar

It looks the same in Firefox 0.8, Mozilla 1.4, Opera 6 and IE 5.2 as it does in Safari 1.2.

This is all for Mac?

Yes, I should have said that. Generally (although there are exceptions), I've found that sites that validate are pretty consistent between browsers. It's when you get malformed code that they vary, because they're all guessing how to display it and will do so differently.

The grey is overwhelming. Thanks for using a web safe color, however, you can probably safely assume that most computers can now display more than the 216 colors.
May I suggest #EEEEEE for a nice hint of grey.

Good to see that you're using CSS. I like the nice and simple design... but why not kick it up a notch and rock out with some custom corners? (http://www.alistapart.com/articles/customcorners2/)

Thank you. I like #EEEEEE better than the CCC for the background of the text. I'll try the rounded corners when I have time on Sunday. The only change I've made so far is the color, if anybody wants to comment further.

I'm having problems following what they did in the page about custom corners that was posted earlier. I can't find the images that they used in their code.
Since the URL was http://www.alistapart.com/articles/customcorners2/, and the code says url(images/custom_corners_right.gif), I tried http://www.alistapart.com/articles/customcorners2/images/custom_corners_right.gif, which gives me a 404 Not Found.
Are the images not on the server, or am I doing something wrong?

Don't know if this counts....but there's no contact information on there, no link to phone numbers, adresses or maps. I always look for that kind of stuff and sometimes it's harder to find than it really should be. :)

Are you referring to my site or A List Apart?
If it's my site, it's because there is no content yet. The content has been greeked, and the contact information will probably be placed at the index page or on the footer.

I'm referring to the greeked page. If the contact info will be added later, then the problem is solved. I was just concerned that there was no obvious link to important info.

Thanks for your concern. For anybody else wondering, I already have the content on an existing site, and this is a redesign. I'm focusing on the design rather than the content right now.
