Hello
For 3 months I have free DVD rental and I am looking for some ideas for DVDs to rent. I like the actor Simon Pegg and have watched Shawn of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and Run Fat Boy Run. Are there any other comedy films he is in? Can you recommend me any comedy films that I might like?
Thanks a lot.

I thought Burn After Reading was pretty funny, but not laugh-out-loud funny. Otherwise......maybe Tropic Thunder? That's more of a really dumb American-style comedy. I don't mind those at all, but I know a lot of people think they're well beyond the point in their lives where they can't laugh at that stuff anymore. :o

Pineapple Express. :D

It's just the first thing to come to mind.

I hope I never get to that point! :)

They really don't make enough comedies anymore, not pure comedies, anyway.

Oh yes, all this DUDE talk reminded me of an epic: The Big Lebowski. If you've not seen it, run, don't walk, and get it.

I was more thinking of new comedies but classics are just that. :)

There needs to be more funny films. Life sucks, we need funny!

Frat Pack comedies i.e. ones starring Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Owen and Luke Wilson, Steve Carell etc. like Wedding Crashers, Meet the Fockers, Anchorman, Dodgeball, Starsky & Hutch, Old School, Zoolander, Meet The Parents and Tropic Thunder which Abstract suggested.

Pegg - TV series - Spaced and Big Train

Other films - Sleeper (Woody Allen) and Blazing Saddles (Mel Brooks)

Blazing Saddles - Replace Sheriff Bart (Cleavon Little) with Obama, the Governor (Mel Brooks) with Bush, and Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman) with Cheney :)

Cheers,
OW

I can never really get into comedy films since theres little character development and its usually established too quickly so I don't find them as funny as TV shows usually. That's why I prefer Peggs films because they're really all just a continuation of Spaced :D
But anyways...
Borat made me laugh, probably too much :D
Meet the Parents, Little Nicky, quite a lot of Adam Sandler films.
Anchorman was ace.
Muriels Wedding is a bit dark but quite realistically surreal.

Roar too slow, agree with the guy ABOVE Melrose, Groundhog Day was funny(not fall off the couch laughing, but was a great movie), also with Melrose though, yeeha Castle Anthrax:)

Also:

Spaceballs / A Night at the Roxbury

Nothing made lately is really any good in my opinion, the amount of amusement I can get out of crap like Wedding Crashers is limited.

It's not amazing or anything but Joe Dirt left a smile on my face. Underrated feelgood comedy that.

You don't mess with the Zohan is fun, if brainless. Also old school and sort of obscure, unless you grew up with HBO in the 80's: Three O'Clock High (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000A98ZO). I had been looking for this for years, and it's finally been released on DVD.

Don't forget Spaceballs and Vacation. ;)

Idiocracy just gets funnier to me every time I see it (and it's fairly rare that I'll watch a movie more than once).

It's got electrolytes!

Ok, here's mine. This one was not what I expected, in fact, I wouldn't have ever watched it if I hadn't accidentally recorded it with my pvr.

Clerks 2.

It's stupid, immature, gross, etc. But I have to say, I had tears rolling down my cheeks on a couple of scenes. This is not a movie for kids, as it is very sexually charged.
Also, I should mention that after watching this one, I rented Clerks (the first one), hoping it would be as funny. Well, it certainly was NOT. In fact, it's amazing they got financing to make a second one after that first Piece of crap!!
Don't expect an Oscar contender here, but it is funny!:D

Stepbrothers, Superhero Movie, Tropic Thunder in that order. Tropic Thunder was the best movie, but the other two had me laughing harder more often.
