Hi,

My wife touched her track pad on her Macbook and gave it a static shock, the screen went dark and the track stopped working. She rebooted and it worked fine. Will this cause any damage?

It should have grounded but since it did cause the screen to go dark and the trackpad stopped working I would say that there is a possibility of it causing damage. I don't think that should happen with a correctly grounded system. Computers are usually shielded from static discharges.
