just trying to figure out why the macbook wont pick up the wireless signal being sent out by my linksys wireless g?

Yes Sir!!!!!

Have you tried using other computers to connect to it? If so, do they work?

I used to have my HP DV 6000 hooked up to it and it worked fine, funny thing is when i turn on the airport it picks up other wireless signals in my apartment building just not the one thats located in the same room as it.

Does the router:
- hide the SSID
- require a password
- distribute IPs

Have you enabled time limitations? There are so many questions, and too little info in the original post to be of any help.

If you're hiding the SSID, click on the Airport connection icon and choose "Join Other Network"
Enter the SSID, Specify the type of encryption, enter the password, click on connect.
