Just purchased iPhone 3G; should I jailbreak or update software first?

I just purchased my iPhone 3G and I want to jailbreak it. The iPhone hasn't had its software updated to 2.2 yet. Should I update before or after I jailbreak?

Upgrade to stock 2.2 FW in iTunes, and then jailbreak, and re-sync.

Use Pwnage to create custom 2.2 firmware and you can do both in one step. 😀
