I'm planning on selling my old first generation macbook (White) to get some money for a new one. The computer is for the most part in good condition. It's had repairs once through apple, so I'm guessing all major bugs are out. The hard drive was upgraded to 160gb about two years ago. I'm going to reformat it to the os 10.4 though, which might set me back. There is also some visible aging on the computer and worst of all the battery is dead. So I'm wondering, how much will I get for this (or how much should I ask) and if I replace the battery, will I be able to sell it for more?

It's hard to tell the value unless I see it with my own eyes, but...

You can try http://www.mac2sell.com

they'll give you a rough estimate of what your MacBook might worth, and then you just +/- depending on your upgrades and damages.

Also, I think it's against the rules to ask for an actual value of your computing device outside of Marketplace forum :)
