Best GTD app for trial attorneys?

I'm looking for a GTD app that best fits the needs of keeping track of a high case load. I'd like something that allows me to have each case listed as a 'project' with sublists for motions, hearings, trial, etc.

I've tried noteskinery, which is OK, but doesn't have a desktop companion. I've been trying Things for OS X, but adding sub-items seems complicated (as far as I can tell it can only be accomplished by creating tags for each project), and I haven't yet figured out to make tasks only appear where I want them (for instance, everything shows up in 'Today'). EDIT: I'm beginning to make a little more sense of how sub-items work...

If anyone can make sense of what I'm asking, please let me know what you would recommend. I don't want to spend the money on Omnifocus and Things for iPhone just to try them.

Second ToDo. Not only will it allow you to set up categories with sublists you can sync your to do's with Toodledo, which will email your list each day if you like. It can also text and remind you of do's due at a given time.

Things is the best if you use it with the desktop app. Syncing with iCal and iPhone or Touch is invaluable.

Download a trial of Omnifocus and see if it organizes the way you need.

I own Things and love it but once I hit my very busy time (now), I needed more organizing options. I tested Omnifocus and bought the iPhone version. I used OF to handle my complicated "to-dos" for this month. Did not buy the desktop version as there is one major problem I have with it, which would affect the continued use. It's a very odd and probably uncommon problem so no sense in mentioning. They are working on it so I'll probably purchase once it's taken care of to handle my "busy times".

I still prefer the simplicity and multiple tags of Things (and it looks good).

Another program to look at is The Hit List. It's in beta and has even more sub-task capabilities than OM. Love that about it! It has multiple tags but I don't like how they show on each line. There will be a iPhone version once the program is released. Just something to consider - for the future.

I use Omnifocus, for me is the best app. If you don't want to spend money on it just to try it you can download a trial of the desktop Omnifocus and there's also a pretty good video on their website that shows how the iPhone app works.

That is what I need. I've been giving Things for OS X a little more time and it seems to be OK. With the improvement mentioned above it could be great.

Does anyone know how the syncing with the iPhone version of Things works? I'm wondering if when you sync the two, it overwrites the iphone or whether it merges the two. If it doesn't merge, then I wouldn't really have much use for the iphone version.

Great. That would definitely be worth it. I don't carry my computer around court all day, so entering stuff on the go with my iPhone is a must. Especially since 70% of my job is sitting around and waiting on other people to show up. This will allow me to be productive rather than playing games.

ToDo and Notebook (both by Appigo) are both fantastic apps and should be on everyones iPhone. They sync seemlessly to Toodledo online.

For tasks I also like the Toodledo native iPhobe app as well so I do have both on my iPhone. I'm still trying to figure out which one I like better since each has it's own plusses and minuses but the ToDo app is inching ahead by just a little bit.

Omnifocus is the full featured To-DO. It costs alot and i don't think it's worth $20 but it is the best to-do app out.

I ended up caving and buying the desktop version which is AWESOME.

It syncs with iCal AND apple mail's to do's.

It syncs with the iphone ap over bonjour (really easy).

It does geo-tagging for what's around you that needs to get done.

Pretty powerful and will eliminate all your "notepad to do lists" that I have tons of.

overall, I give it a 7/10 with minus three points for price. $50 for the educational desktop version and 20 for the iphone version. EXPENSIVE.
