Any game that lags can have 3 possible issues with it:

1. The game is not well optimized, or has bugs

2. Your computer is not powerful enough to handle it

3. Your internet connection is slow

The first two are obviously not the place because you implied that single player works great. In that case, its probably a slow internet connection between your and whoever is hosting. Check you ping (I dont know where it is in B2142 but should be under scoreboard), the higher the number, the more lag. A good amount is under 250. 1000 ping means it takes a whole second for other people's movements and actions register on your computer.
